About CBD

As one of the UK’s largest CBD manufacturers, we often have questions about our products so we’ve put together our most frequently asked questions for you.

Will taking CBD help with my illness?

Unfortunately, we cannot give out advice on using cannabis oil for anything medical related. We sell our CBD products as food supplements and it’s always important to do your own thorough research – depending what you are looking to use CBD for, before trying it out.

That said, you do not have to be ‘ill’ to use CBD, it can be used by anyone. It provides a source of essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, healthy fatty acids like Omega-3, and protein to help maintain a healthy lifestyle. It’s organically grown too.

Will I get high/stoned from taking CBD?

People often believe that because CBD is associated with the cannabis plant, they may experience the same effects as smoking cannabis -  this is incorrect.

CBD is a non-intoxicating component which has enormous potential. Although CBD can offer changes in the body, it doesn’t impact your brain or your mental clarity.

The way we extract CBD allows us to pull all of the natural and beneficial nutrients out of the cannabis plant, so you will not get “high” and you are getting a product from us that’s natural and safe.

 Is it legal?

CBD is legal, because hemp is legal in the UK. Hemp is a plant that is safe, natural, and non-toxic. It can be used for almost anything.

When it comes to cannabis, however, it is still illegal to use it or possess it. This is what can still confuse people. Cannabidiol (CBD) is not considered a controlled substance in the UK. It is therefore 100% legal and can be freely distributed in the UK without restrictions.

If you want to use CBD products it is completely legal to do so.

Will I fail a drugs test?

When it comes to cannabis, drugs tests pick up THC (the compound that does make you high). Drugs test are carried out because THC is known for the feelings of euphoria it provides and this is what makes cannabis illegal.

Most hemp oil or CBD products are sold with much lower levels of THC (less than 0.2%) so most consumers will never have a problem passing a drugs test.

Remember, CBD isn’t even being tested for and most work places aren’t going to have a problem with you using it as it is non-psychoactive.

This said, individuals who take unusually large doses of CBD (1000-2000mg of hemp oil daily) could theoretically fail a drugs test but to put this in perspective:

We suggest that our customers do not go over the recommended 200mg a day of hemp oil. Even if you took 3 of our CBD capsules morning, noon, and night (3x10mg) and then use our CBD oil spray 4 times a day (4x5mg) you are still only having 50mg of CBD. Nowhere near 1000mg or 2000mg to be able to fail a drugs test.

 Is it addictive?

It is true that you can become addicted to cannabis but CBD is made from hemp and is categorically not addictive.

A report last year by the World Health Organization declared that CBD is non-addictive, writing, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential” and that “CBD is well-tolerated and safe for human consumption.”

CBD is not addictive as it contains no (or very little) THC. THC is the ingredient that causes cannabis to be addictive in some people.

Can I take CBD with other meds?

When it comes to taking CBD with other medication, we advise you check with a medical professional before using it as it can, on occasion, interact with other medicines. Always stick to the recommended dose.

How much do I need daily?

Each person’s endocannabinoid system works differently and each person reacts differently. There is no solid scientific information that states how much CBD you should be taking at any one time. We suggest always starting with a small dose and working your way up. Your height and weight play a part as well as the quality of the CBD oil. We do advise you do not go over the daily dosage recommendation of 200mg.

How can I take CBD without having to taste the oil?

It’s available in many forms so we are confident you can find an XTLC CBD product to suit you. The best method will depend on the individual but always remember to start with a low dosage, then increase from there.

Is CBD safe?

According to all current studies yes, CBD has a good safety profile.
